How is an aroma roll-on different from a Thai inhaler?

It is used differently and it smells different. A traditional inhaler is designed to be sniffed from a tube — sharp, and gone in a moment. The AMURI roller goes directly onto skin at the wrist, neck or temple, and opens gradually over the day because it is composed like a fragrance, with top, heart and base notes rather than a single hit. It is oil-based and alcohol-free, so it does not sting.

Which scent suits the evening or bedtime?

Mantra Night. It is woody and floral — French lavender and Atlas cedarwood, with Palo Santo, the sacred aromatic wood of South America, and Schisandra berry (五味子). Warm and still. Most people apply it to the wrist or neck about 15 to 30 minutes before bed and take three to five slow breaths, as a signal that the day is finished.

It is two in the afternoon and there is still half a day left. Which scent?

Passion Nirun. Citrus-bright at the opening — yuzu and Mexican lime — over ginseng and Chuanxiong (川芎), closing on patchouli. It starts lively and settles. Roll it onto the wrist and breathe slowly for a moment when the afternoon needs opening up.

I want something clean and open. What would you suggest?

Sailom Flore. It is the closest thing we make to standing in a pine forest in winter — cypress and peppermint, with juniper berry and Huang Qi (黄芪), and wildflowers at the base. The cleanest and coolest of the three, and the right choice if you do not like sweet scents.

How is the AMURI balm different from an ordinary herbal balm?

In three ways. It is two things at once — it eases aching muscles and it leaves a fragrance, in one tin. It is built on eighteen Thai-Chinese botanicals: Plai for aches, Thao En On for strains, Thong Phan Chang for insect bites, Gotu Kola for bruising, under Thai herbal registration G515/68. And it comes in a silicone case that clips to a bag, the first of its kind in Thailand, in seven scents.

Is the balm pungent? I am worried about that harsh medicinal smell.

It is not. That was the entire brief for this product. Conventional balms lean on a high proportion of camphor, which is where the sharp medicinal smell comes from. AMURI is composed by a perfumer in the structure of a fragrance instead, so what people around you notice is a scent, not a remedy. Customers regularly tell us they use it at their desk and nobody realises what it is.

How do I get the most out of it?

Roller: apply to the wrist, the back of the neck or the temples, then take three to five slow breaths. Balm: a thin layer where you want it, massaged in gently until absorbed. Massage oil: spray and massage in, or mist a tissue and inhale. All three can be reapplied as you like. You do not need much — the scent opens on its own.

Can I use this if I am pregnant, breastfeeding, or managing a health condition?

Please speak to your doctor first. And regardless of circumstances, patch test on the inner forearm before the first use — leave it for about 24 hours and check for any reaction. Avoid the eye area and broken skin. For young children, consult a doctor as well. Stop using it immediately if any irritation appears.

Who developed the formulas?

A traditional Chinese medicine doctor and a perfumer, working together. The doctor set the botanicals and their proportions, drawing on classical herb pairs such as Chuanxiong (川芎) and Bai Zhi (白芷). The perfumer built the scent structure to the standard of a fine fragrance. The balm holds Thai herbal registration G515/68; the roller and massage oil are notified cosmetics.

Where can I buy AMURI?

Three places — this website, amuri.co.th, where new customers can use the code AMURI for 100 baht off; Shopee, at the AMURI Official Store, where the balm has sold over 2,000 units; and Lazada. Shipping is free on orders over 500 baht on every channel. If you would rather talk it through first, message us on LINE at @amurithailand.

Can I buy this as a gift? Is wrapping included?

Yes, and every order is wrapped with a ribbon at no extra cost. There are two gift sets: the five-scent balm set, which includes an illustrated card telling the story behind each scent, and a roller-and-balm duo. Both come in a green box with a cream ribbon and a gold lettermark — suited to New Year, Chinese New Year, or any occasion where you want to say you were thinking of someone.

What if they do not like it, or someone else gives the same thing?

A fair worry. Two things help. Every scent carries an auspicious Thai name with a meaning — SukSun for happiness, PreDa for delight, ChaLui for ease — so the recipient gets a good wish along with the gift. And AMURI is not yet as widely given as the larger brands, so duplicates are unlikely. If you are unsure which scent to choose, tell us a little about the person and we will help you pick.
